With Google Home and Whirlpool working together, you can use simple voice commands like: "OK Google, Tell Whirlpool to preheat the oven to 350" or "OK Google, ask Whirlpool how much time is left on the microwave."

What will Google Home allow me to do with my appliance?

The Google Assistant is the voice service available on Google Home, the Google Assistant app, and on supported Google Home devices. Google Home allows you to use voice commands to simply and quickly control your Whirlpool connected appliance.

How do I connect my appliance to Google Home?

Prerequisites: You must have a previously created Whirlpool username and password, and have added your Whirlpool connected appliance before starting.

  1. Turn to your Google Home and say, "Ok Google, ask Whirlpool to link my account."
  2. Google Assistant will display a LINK card in the Google Home app. Launch the Google Home app, tap the Discover tab then LINK.
    • If you don't see a LINK card, you may need to forcefully close the Google Home app and then relaunch it.
  3. Sign in using your Whirlpool account username and password. This will link your Whirlpool account to Google Home

Ensure your Whirlpool Connected appliance is connected to Wi-Fi and to your Whirlpool Account. For more information, go to https://www.whirlpool.com/connect.

How do I disconnect or reset my connection between Google Home and my appliance?
  1. Launch the Google Home app and select MENU.
  2. Select More settings, then Services and scroll down and select Whirlpool.
  3. Click UNLINK at the bottom of the screen and confirm.
  4. To use Google Home with Whirlpool after unlinking, you will need to relink your account.
  5. Alternatively, if you change your Whirlpool account password, any connected 3rd party devices such as Google Home will no longer be authenticated and will be unable to control your account.
Do my appliance and my Google Home need to be on the same WiFi network?

No. As long as your Whirlpool Smart Appliance is connected and online in your Whirlpool account and your Google Assistant enabled device is online and functioning, you can use Google Assistant anywhere to activate and use your Smart Appliance. Note: remote functionality will still be restricted for safety as outlined in the Use and Care guide you received with your appliance.

How can I check if my appliance and my Google Home enabled product are connected?

Whirlpool Smart Microwave: If your appliance is currently connected and online, the Wi-Fi signal strength icon will be illuminated in the top right corner of the on-product LCD screen.

Will Google Assistant notify me when my appliance has completed a cycle or task?

Google Assistant will not notify you that something has completed unless you first ask Google Assistant to ask Whirlpool for the status. For automatic notifications, you can choose for notifications to appear on your mobile device through the Whirlpool app.

Google Assistant is saying “There was a problem, try again in a few moments”. What do I do?

Please repeat your command to Google Assistant after the activity light ring goes out. If you continue to have problems, please check your appliance’s connectivity via the Whirlpool app.

Google Assistant is saying “The Oven or Microwave isn’t online at this time ”. What do I do?

Please check your smart appliance’s Wi-Fi connection. Double check that the appliance shows as online within the Whirlpool mobile app. Please repeat your command to Google Assistant after the blue activity light ring goes out.

Google Assistant is saying “The Oven or Microwave isn’t set to remote control”. What do I do?

Please ensure your smart appliance is set to remote enable mode on the appliance. See your Use & Care Guide for instructions on Remote Start & Pause. Google Assistant use of remote enable follows the same safety restrictions as does operation via the Whirlpool mobile app.

Please repeat your command to Google Assistant after the activity light ring goes out.

Can I use Google Home devices with my Whirlpool Smart Appliance outside the United States?

No, the current Google Home Whirlpool Service is only available for Whirlpool Smart Appliances purchased in the United States.
