Vacation Mode
We went on vacation. Were gone for two months. Before we left, the filter was fine. We came home and the filter light was on. No one was here for 2 months, meaning....the water dispenser and the ice maker were unused for 2 months. How is it that we need a filter??? And I've been reading through the reviews, I'm not sure I want to deal with this kind of headache!! Only 3 good reviews and the rest are unhappy people!! Like I said, there is NO WAY this needs a filter ALREADY!! There are two of us that use this fridge. Not EVEN POSSIBLE!

DON’T BUY WHIRLPOOL
DON’T BUY! We had the refrigerator a month (2nd one in two months actually the first came dented) and the filter quit working in that time. Because it was 1 day past the 30 day filter guarantee it was going to cost $60. They didn’t care the 1 day was a holiday they were closed. Or that it hadn’t worked right all along before it quit working altogether. We won’t own Whirlpool again. And believe me I’ve shared far and wide my ordeal with this brand that started October 12th and it’s now January 19th. The customer service matches the lacking product reliability too.

It's a Racket!
The red light on the fridge comes on after a few months goes by meaning it's time to put a new one in. You'd think for a $65 filter, you'd get at least a year. Some folks are only getting a few weeks out of them. I keep getting mailings from Whirlpool telling me it's time for a new filter with their "discount" offer as well. Call it what it is folks. It is nothing more than a racket! And Whirlpool, spare me any of your responses. Everyone here taking time to respond as well as myself are fed up with it!

Terrible Customer Service
This is the incorrect filter. You are sending me Filter #1. My refrigerator uses a Filter #2. I have tried canceling the order, it to no avail. Your customer service number requires a user ID number. There are no instructions how to obtain a user ID number.
You have charged my credit $204.00 for filters I cannot use. How can I returned these filters and recover my money. How can I cancel my automatic order?
If you remember my ice make quit in the first week of ownership and had to be replaced.

It works fine.
I’ve been using this filter in my refrigerator/freezer door for at least twenty years. I replace it every six months. I have no idea what these other people are talking about when they say their water flow slows down. Mine is consistent from day one to the the last day when I replace it after six months. My water always tastes good. We like it better than the water from my reverse osmosis filter I have at my kitchen sink. It’s filtering out contaminants and that’s it’s job. I have no problem with it. I wish it would last a year.

Last two filter purchased only lasted 1-2 weeks
My experience with the last 4 filters purchased...two lasted about 2-3 months. At the end of June, I purchased a filter that lasted a week or two, before only a trickle of water came out. *Shook it, tapped...put it back in...still no change. Purchase another filter a week ago, and we are down to a trickle again. So frustrated. It is like rolling the dice on whether or not you will get a working filter, and they are expensive. I have reached out to Whirlpool a few years ago, because this is a common occurrence with this filter. We do not use the water filter excessively...mainly for ice maker, and glasses of water. We have learned over the years...to treat it gently, so overuse is definitely not the issue with the filter. If you use the water dispenser frequently...I would not recommend a refrigerator that use this filter. Save your money!

Filter worked for less than 2 weeks
This is a third Whirlpool filter that I tried in my KitchenAid refrigerator, which is fully compatible as per the KitchenAid website. The filter worked well for one week, then the water flow slowed down to the point that it took a 2-3 minutes to fill up a cup of water. I live in NYC where tap water quality if very high. I would expect the filter to work well for at least a few months. Switching filters every two weeks seems highly unsustainable. This has been a very disappointing experience.

Filter replacement is garbage and waste of money
I bought a filter and life happened (3 kids, 60+ days of illnesses post covid) so much construction in our off market lemon of a house. This was the tip of the iceberg. I FINALLY got around to putting the new filter in the fridge, and it kept popping out. I tried all the tricks, spent over an hour on customer service with the process on how to change a filter, and it KEPT popping out and spilling water all over the inside of my fridge. Here's the kicker though, I asked for a replacement, and WHIRLPOOL said no because I was passed the 90 days. Really???? My old filter works just fine so I popped it back in and I'm resetting the fridge. I would have simply liked a replacement since mine was literally opened two days ago. I'm in the market for a new garage fridge. Unfortunately I will never buy a Whirlpool ever again based on the customer service alone.

Frustrated, but glimmers of good.
We like the quality of water that gets dispensed, but it regularly clogs up, even within the first 6 weeks. If we pull it out, shake it and put it back, it helps for a handful of days. Really wish these worked better. Especially since we don’t really have a choice and they are expensive to replaced. Makes me want to avoid Whirlpool products in the future. If they worked as long as they are supposed to, we would be happy with the product.

Filters do not last
Hello, I am buying my 3rd filter now since December. Within 4 weeks the flow rate decreases to less than 25% of what it was when installed. I’ve bought them from different sources and tried the vinegar hack…all to no avail. It is not my water quality, as water passes through a water softener before reaching the fridge and the water runs fine when I run it without the filter. I can rent a fridge for less than $60.00 a month…this is rediculous!
I’ll be trying to return this one that just installed last month.
