Rated 5 out of 5 by Compactor from Trash Compactor We got this compactor to replace a vintage Whirlpool compactor that was in place, when we bought our home years ago. Was a perfect fit for the existing opening. It works great, but unfortunately, it has what I know is a safety feature, in that you have to press the power button each time, before pressing the start button. An extra step, that I wish this senior couple could override or bypass. I had hoped that maybe the new unit would have had some improvements to help muffle the sound a little better, but it's just a loud as the old vintage unit was, with a slight difference in tone. BUT, it IS a trash compactor & we were sort of used to the noise anyway, so it's livable.

Had the top been placed in a situation where the top would be seen, it would have been returned

Rated 4 out of 5 by M. Gambrell from A Little Dissapointed I had to replace a 25 year old Whirlpool Trash compactor recently with this model. Although this machine is lighter in weight, it also moves inside of the intended space too much, causing the door not to close easily. The older model had a "dial" to turn the unit on for compacting. This newer model has a button that you push, which is actually somewhat hard to push (again, causing the machine to move backward into the space. Overall, the machine does the job and I am glad to have it; however, the older model seemed to work better. Of course, it did last for 25 years!

Rated 1 out of 5 by MBro from did not work I picked up compactor on Nov 20 and brought it home, placed it in position, plugged it in and it does not work. I called customer service, they said I would be notified by someone to come and check it out. Have not been contacted. I'm a patient person but am becoming an unhappy customer. I will be taking it back to store for my money back soon. :(

Rated 1 out of 5 by Vine999 from Perhaps I ordered the wrong compactor This compactor seems to be of poor quality and does not have the options I expected. It does not perform an "extra pack" compaction, and there is no space for a deodorizer. It's also quite noisy. The compactor did not come with a bag caddy which I had to buy separately. Although advertised as portable, the backside is not finished, and the cord comes out of the back middle. I would try to return it or ask for a refund, but am not willing to take the time or trouble, so guess I'm stuck with it as long as it runs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by edyth55 from Reduce waste!! I bought this about 6 mo ago. Works beautifully. BAGS fit perfectly. However, you must line them up so you can latch the bag to the unit. Whirlpool supplied bags do have a smell, so I will probably buy a different brand when these run out. If you throw out liquid, then line the bottom with a thick bag, or the liquid will spill out of the bottom of the bag. If you trash items with a strong odor, put them in separate plastic bags so the smell will be contained. I know have 1-bag to trash vs 8-10per week!!!
