Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well designed refrigerator I was looking for an efficient refrigerator when I was redoing my kitchen and this was a perfect fit. It is energy efficient and very nice to look at too. I really don't hear it run very much at all. The outside has nice clean lines. The inside is designed very well. Inside the door has a lot of storage, that is why I choose a refrigerator without a water. The freezer drawer is great. It really makes it easy to organize and access all the food in the freezer. I recently looked at a friend's French door 29 cu ft and it didn't look much bigger inside because of the whirlpool's efficient design inside. I would definitely recommend this refrigerator.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BEWARE Defrosting issue. Ice lays on the freezer floor. Once the bottom is filled with ice, the water then starts to drip on the floor. It's been defrosting in the freezer and ends up with a thick sheet of ice on the freezer floor. Cleaned it out every week and its back within days. Called a repairman, he said its very common on these fridges, the defrost drain line is tiny and frequently gets plugged up causing this problem. Went on line and found a video about how to DIY. Now I'm praying it doesn't happen again. This fridge is 3 years old. We've been dealing with this defrosting issue for 2 years. My last fridge worked for 20 years. I recommend staying away from the Whirlpool Gold bottom freezer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Problems start 2 months after warrenty expires The refrigerator looks good and works pretty well. The produce drawers don't fit very well in their wells, but that's excusable. The real problem is that the refrigerator started leaking water after about 14 months of use. The area behind the back wall of the freezer collected a bunch of water which froze. We removed the drawers to access the area and it's consumed most of a Saturday. I have not found any useful repair documentation online. The local repair show charges $80 for the first half hour and $30 for each additional 15 minutes. We purchased the refrigerator to avoid these situations. Never again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective Defrost Drain I bought this Whirlpool refrigerator 7-2-11 at Lowes. It developed a problem with the defrost drain so that a sheet of ice formed on the bottom of the freezer. I had it repaired 12-5-12. It worked fine for a while but now May 2013 the drain is clogged again. I did some searching and found that this has been a problem for numerous people with this same refrigerator. It is a design problem with an opening in the line being too small and getting clogged easily. The refrigerator looks good but does not function properly so I would not buy Whirlpool again nor would I recommend the refrigerator to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ice sheet in the bottom of the freezer I'd been marginally happy with this fridge/feezer for 8 months. For the past 2 months I've been fighting with the defroster drain. It is clogged and when running leaks water into the freezer, and ultimately onto the floor. I've never been happy with the inability to easily remove the freezer drawers for cleaning, but no its a real problem as it makes it impossible to adequately clean the drain tube. This should be easy routine maintenance for an owner and not requiring a service call every year. Also looks like a common problem looking at the other reviews.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cooling is fine, but what is up with the sheet of ice? I have have owned this model for just under two years. Several weeks ago I noticed a problem. A sheet of thick ice forms in the bottom of the freezer cabinet and water sometimes drips out of the bottom of the freezer cabinet and onto my kitchen floor. I have harvested this ice using a spatula, and it is thick across the entire bottom. The fridge looks good, is quiet and cools just fine. Power usage is low, but I do not recommend this model due to the unwanted ice sheet maker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware! Faulty defrost drain line! Fell in love with this fridge, bought it brand new 2 years ago at Lowes. Purchased 2011. It's been defrosting in the freezer, dripping water on my floor with huge sheet of ice on bottom of freezer floor. Cleaned it all out and defrosted it myself- problem was back within hours. Called a repairman, he said its very common on these fridges, the defrost drain line is tiny and frequently gets plugged up causing this problem. I spent $120 for him to fix this. Thank god it didn't destroy my flooring. Now I'm dreading it happening again. I saved up for this fridge and was a huge expense for me- having to pay for repairs 2 years later is not right! My last fridge worked well for 20 years. Google the problem as well, sadly seems common- so my advice is beware. Love everything else about it but afraid I made a bad choice and angry paying for these repairs so soon

Rated 2 out of 5 by from buyer beware of noise of refrigator My family has always purchased Whirlpool products due to their quality and dependability but our last purchase was very disappointing. Disappointing due to the noise that this refrigator makes plus not being able to keep the front of the door looking clean. I went to the website to listen to the noise levels before purchasing and nothing was on this site warned me about the freon making such a noise, the best way for me to discribe the noise is a clucking chicken. I was told it only last for a few seconds but it is unpleasant to hear this noise throughout the day and night, needless to say when company is over it is very embarrsing. I love the style and the space that is refrigator has but would not recommend due to the noise that occurs when the freon is leveling out plus not being able to keep the door looking clean.
