Step 1: Follow the instructions for your filter type

  •

    Quarter Turn Filter

    1. Find the filter cartridge cap in the base grille.
    2. Rotate the cap counterclockwise to a vertical position, then pull.
    3. Remove the filter cap by sliding it right or left. Set aside cap. Discard old filter.
    4. Remove the packaging and O-ring covers from the new filter. Slide the filter cap on.
    5. From the vertical position, push the filter into the base grille. Rotate clockwise until horizontal.
    6. Purge air from the water line. See instructions below.
  •

    Push Button Filter

    1. Find the filter cartridge cap in the base grille. Do not remove cap yet.
    2. Push the eject button, then pull the filter cap. Do not twist cap.
    3. Remove the filter cap by turning it counterclockwise. Set aside cap. Discard old filter.
    4. Remove the packaging and O-ring covers from the new filter.
    5. Align arrows on the cap and new filter. Turn clockwise to snap in place.
    6. Push filter into the base grill until the eject button pops. Gently tug on cap to ensure it is snug.
    7. Purge air from water line. See instructions below.
  •

    Bottom Freezer/French Door Filter

    1. Locate the filter in the upper right corner of the fresh food compartment.
    2. There are two cover types: PUSH or PULL. If the word PUSH isn’t on the cover, it’s a PULL filter.
    3. To open PUSH cover: push the tab in and down. To open PULL cover: pull forward gently.
    4. Turn the filter counterclockwise until it releases. Drain water from old filter in sink and discard.
    5. Remove the packaging and sealing label from the new filter.
    6. Insert filter by gently rotating clockwise until it stops. Snap filter closed.
    7. Purge air from water line. See instructions below.

Step 2: Purge air from the water line

    1. After replacing the filter, flush air from the system to prevent the dispenser from dripping.
    2. Using a cup, press and hold the dispenser for 5 seconds, then release for 5 seconds.
    3. Repeat until water flows, then continue for an additional 2 minutes.
    4. If your dispenser drips, do this again to flush air that enters the system from the water supply.
