Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing!!! I purchased my washing machine on Dec 14, 2011. On December 20, 2012 (just a week past the warranty expiring) my washing machine was making a noise like someone was hitting a hammer. I called a repairman and he fixed a loose nut ($90). The machine worked fine for 2 loads of laundry, then the spin cycle wouldn't work. I again called my repairman. He couldn't figure out the problem, called Whirlpool, was told that the machine needed a new locking mechanism and so it was ordered. The part came and was installed ... my machine still didn't work. My repairman tried and tried to make my machine work. In desparation he called Whirlpool again and was told to order yet another part. An actuator was ordered, installed, and I was back in business. Cost for parts/labor $240. In all I spent $330 to fix a washer that orginally cost $399. I don't recommend this machine (and my repairman said it was VERY cheaply built). January 3, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Can't believe how noisy this machine is My Kenmore washer died after approximately 25 years of successful service. In the haste to replace my washer ASAP, I purchased a Whirlpool top load washer. It was delivered yesterday, 10/14/13 and after one day of owning it, I called the store, Plaza Appliance in Huntersville, NC and asked if something could be wrong with the machine. Surely, a brand new washer could not be making this much noise. It sounds like a piece of junk about to fall apart. I was told to call Whirlpool. After speaking with the customer service rep, I was told "it's a noisy washer" and told to go to the website to listen to the sounds the washer makes. If these were the sounds I was hearing, that's normal for this washer and there was no need for a repairman to come out. I was told to call Plaza Appliance to select another washer, I wish I had read the reviews before buying this washer. Now, I'm trying to decide which brand to get. This washer has to go!!! The store manager told me he has had several complaints in the past about the noise of this washer. I wish the salesman had told me this before I purchased it, especially since they were aware of this noise issue. Very disappointed. October 15, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Disappointed! Bought this washer a little over two years ago so unless there have been improvements to this model since then, I would stay away from it. I previously had a Whirlpool washer that went over 20 years with no issues. Never needed service the entire time and just finally gave out. So decided to buy another Whirlpool and am so sorry I did. Will not purchase this brand again. This washer has been nothing but a headache since the day it was delivered. I have tried to get use to the noise, as mentioned in other reviews, the annoying locking lid, the length of time for a cycle (a good hour), the terrible job it does rinsing (end up with fabric softener streaks on completed laundry), but the straw being that it now seems to be stuck on the rinse cycle. The thing has been rinsing now for thirty minutes and nothing I do seems to get it to move past this cycle. I have had it with this machine and am not going to even waste money to have it repaired. Rather I am going to eat the money I spent on it and replace it with a different brand and be sure to read the reviews closely. What a shame on a washer I have only owned for two years. March 1, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Tears Your Clothes Apart The water sensor only allows enough water to barely cover the clothes. This causes way too much friction for the wash and rinse cycle and leads to twisting your clothes up and tearing the hems out of towels. I was wondering for a while what was causing this and finally figured it out. To prevent this you must hang around while it is filling with water and when it starts to wash without more water filling, lift the lid and trick it into adding more water. The rinse cycle does not release the fabric softener fully which creates a mess with the wash stopping to find dripping blue softener running down the side of the agitator. I HATE THIS MACHINE, HATE IT!!!!! February 12, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Does not clean nor rinse clothes properly. Does not rinse detergent out of clothes. I had a prior whirlpool washer for 27 years and loved the quality and performance, That is why I bought another whirlpool. I will never buy this brand of washer ever again. The sensor machines are terrible. It does not add enough water to the washer to move the clothes around in the washer nor does it wash or rinse the clothes properly. I have tried several name brand detergents but my white clothes are now coming out of the machine very dingy and dirty looking. I hate this machine and only wish I would have never bought a sensing washer. I wish I could throw away this machine and not even donate it to anyone. Very poor quality machine. DO NOT EVER BUY A SENSING WASHER. HATE HATE HATE this machine. November 3, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Lasted 2 1/2 years then died! Purchased in Oct 2011 from Lowes. Thankfully we purchased the 2 year extended warranty for $50 which gave us 3 years warranty. Computer crashed and it cost more to repair than to replace so our warranty is paying us what we payed for it to replace it. Now I'm researching for a new machine and having a hard time. Most important features for me are a delicate cycle, rinse dispenser and easy to use. Don't know if I want to trust Whirlpool again, or do I go for something that will die again in less than 3 years to get another new one!? Never liked the locking lid feature and always felt that the HE version gave us clothes that weren't all that clean. Also, it is very noisy. March 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Simple design The only features I do not like are the locked lid during filling and the inability to set a timed wash. It seems to take a lot longer for a single load to complete entire wash cycle. April 1, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 Ok machine for the money, but I purchased this machine for the energy efficiency and prior ownership of Whirlpool appliances. The water levels dispensed with the sensing is not sufficient to wash the clothes - I have dry areas on various pieces of clothing. This washer is so sensitive that nine out of ten loads go off balance, I shift the clothes around and it goes into the next cycle without completing the drain and spin. My final result is clothing rinsed with wash water! As far as efficiency - my water bill NEVER decreased with this washer! In fact it increased because I had to do so many loads over again. Electric bill - same effect. I am looking for another washer because I can't leave the machine to complete the cycle and I am tired of babysitting it. January 20, 2014
