In 2006, Whirlpool built on its long-standing commitment of donating a range
and ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerator to every newly built Habitat home
by launching the Building Blocks program in Nashville, Tennessee. In one short
week of dedicated effort, we joined Habitat volunteers from across the country
and partner families to build an entire block of new homes. In 2007, we took
the build to Phoenix and in 2008 we left our mark on Dallas.
In 2009,
we headed to Atlanta, Georgia where an unprecedented collaboration between the
Atlanta and Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity affiliates resulted in the
construction of eight energy efficient homes in one week.

In 2008, the Atlanta and Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity affiliates
signed an historic agreement as part of a long-term strategic partnership to
build environmentally sensitive, affordable homes in south metro Atlanta.
Through this unique relationship, the Atlanta and Southern Crescent affiliates
have created a model that includes energy efficient, ENERGY STAR®,
EarthCraft certified homes, preserves valuable green space and wetlands, and
creates public walking trails to enhance the quality of life for Habitat
families. In keeping with this spirit and our long-standing commitment to
Habitat for humanity, each home built during our Atlanta blitz build will
receive a Whirlpool® range and ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerator.
