3.6 cu. ft. high-efficiency Top Load Washer with H2Low™ wash system

This high-efficiency washer uses just the right amount of water. The H2Low™ wash system with Auto Load Sensing determines exactly how much water is needed, saving resources and delivering a deeper clean. This ENERGY STAR® qualified model also features the Care Control temperature management system, which ensures the water is warm enough to dissolve detergents but not so hot that it leads to shrinking or color bleeding. Twelve automatic cycles, four water temperatures, and four water levels give you exact control over your laundry. And the EcoBoost™ option uses a lower temperature and higher spin speed to reduce overall energy use.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 1210 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Eco-friendly plus good quality and price Our old washing machine stopped spinning its agitator even though we replaced the most common known issue parts of the agitator. I told my dad we seriously need a new one and after doing some research I found this Whirlpool machine to be budget friendly and it doesn't have to problem of a spinning agitator like the old washing machine models. This washing machine offers a lot of choices for different types of fabrics. Also for a big family or anybody that is trying to budget bills the washing machine only uses low water except for one or selections two choices i.e. "bulky items/sheets"...oh its also an energy star rated. I am happy with my purchase with this washing machine. The noise isn't loud at all this machine might make different sounds than a regular agitator washing machine because the crazy high speed spinning makes up for the machine not having agitator which tends to have problems over time. No agitator means a little more wider space to put clothes in there. I got this Whirlpool at Spring 2013 and its is not Fall 2013 so far no issues. ** ((Images were taken in a dim light room..basement florescent light was broken.)) October 29, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Such a disappointment! I've had this washer for 2 years now, so I've had it long enough to know how well it does or doesn't work. If you buy this washer you will never, ever wash clothes in hot water again. You'll be lucky if you get anything more than luke warm. I always have to pre-treat every single stain, no matter how small it is. Smells also do not come out, if you ever have a musty smelling towel, it will smell exactly the same when you take it out of the wash. Our utility bills did not go down at all when we switched to the "high efficiency" machine. This washer spends a lot of time "thinking" and "sensing". Unlike some other reviewers, I don't think that the machine is unusually loud and our clothes don't come out all wrinkled up (they just aren't really clean). Sadly, we bought this washer and aren't able to replace it with a machine that works. Until we can, I'll just keep washing clothes over and over to get them clean and I'll keep adding a pitcher of hot water when I need a water temp other than cold. September 26, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointed... My husband and I have always been "died in the wool" Whirlpool fanatics. We have never been disappointed in any Whirlpool product we have purchased UNTIL our most recent purchase....the 6 cu. ft. high-efficiency Top Load Washer with H2Low™ wash system. I never knew it would be so difficult and time consuming to load the washer. It has no agitator, but you must be very careful to lay the clothes around the tub, one item at a time, so that you still leave a clear shot to the center of the tub. I thought this machine would be more efficient and hold more clothes than the standard machine WITH agitator. I find that is not true. The other thing that disturbs me sooo much is that I am NOT ALLOWED to open the top w/o first cancelling the cycle. I don't like the fact that I have NO idea what is going on in the washer. Once you cancel the cycle, you wait until it pauses, unlocks, and only then are you allowed to open the top. I really hate to give this unsatisfactory review, but I don't think I have ever been less happy with a major appliance purchase. December 25, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for my use I bought this washer because of the Whirlpool name, it had the features I wanted, and the price was right. I got online and read reviews here and there that were rather low, most of which were people not happy with some of the features. Upon reading the reviews, most were not happy with the lack of an agitator, where you put the detergent, etc. Then why did they buy this washing machine? I knew exactly what I wanted in a new washer after using one at a beach house we rented last summer. I knew what I wanted and what I was getting. This is not your grandmother's washing machine, it is energy efficient, environmentally friendly, and truly cleans our clothing as well. Yes, it makes different sounds...more like a dishwasher than a washing machine, but it's not loud. While I am a grandmother, I like hi-tech modern appliances. No large-numbered phone for me; I've got a 4G smartphone. I wanted a washing machine just as modern and efficient. I highly recommend this washer. December 22, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Inconsistent I bought this machine about six months ago. I didn't read the manual carefully at first. I was putting the detergent on top of the clothes, and I wasn't being carefully about putting the clothes around the edge of the basin. My clothes were coming out very linty and were rarely clean. So then I read the manual carefully. I started putting the detergent in first. And carefully putting the clothes around the outside edge, leaving the center open as the manual recommends. Sometimes the machine does a great job. Lately, all my colored cotton polo shirts come out showing stains. Sometimes I'm not sure the stains were there when I put them in the wash. Lately a new problem has developed: the machine starts its sensing routine, the red light comes on to lock the top. But then the lock light turns off. The sensing process stops. Sometimes I have unplugged the unit to see if it needs a reset. Also, reorganized the load, or rocked the unit. Don't buy it. August 30, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Frustrated with dirty laundry! My husband works hard and he gets dirty. I've always prided myself on clean laundry....well no more! First, I hate the locking lid because I can't added my products as I load the washer and then wash my cup out. No matter what products I use, his work clothes do not come clean. So much for energy saving when you have to wash clothes twice. The loading arrangement is a joke and NO you can't wash more items in a load! With 4 inches of water inside, you can forget that! My husband didn't understand until he finally tried it for himself (I'll spare you from his opinion, especially when he picked out and bought it about 1 & 1/2 yrs ago ) I want my old style washer back, where I can set my water level, temp and not have to close the lid before I can turn the machine on - at least I knew my clothes looked and smelled clean. I applaud your concern for our environment, but please design a good washer that does what it needs to do - wash clothes clean! I think you for your time and attention.......please understand my frustration! A discount would be nice toward a replacement! March 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by The water detection system is innovative The washer is average to look at, but the selective switch areas allow for any type of clothes setting Whirlpool could think of, and LOVE that it can wash BIG loads at a time a time. I can do the laundry because there isn't an agitator to ruin my wife's garments. The water saver also means it uses an lessor amount of detergent. I use the pre-made laundry capsule for any size load, and the sensor uses such water. THE water used is the water needed, so since I am always warning people who let the water go to the septic systems with out any thought that they can't drink from there. I really like the fact my washer saves me on the drinking water. It is really crazy to think a machine is more thoughtful about saving life's substance, than us that who needs it to live. The noise while saving water could be reduced, and I worry that the start/stop on mechanical parts will break much too soon. The Whirlpool name gives me sense of calm, as I know they would honor innocent material design issues November 10, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Better Buy the Extended Warranty My family of 6 spent $600 on a new washer because we needed a large capacity machine and thought Whirlpool was the way to go. After having the washer for about 14 months it started making a loud grinding sound during one of the washing processes. We called Whirlpool and Lowes and they both stated "it does not sound right, so let talk about how much it will cost to service it" . It ended up that a screw came loose in the drum, so we spent $75 to have a screw put back on. The repair man from Lowes stated it was a common item for this washer. 18 months of having the washer we start to notice the clothes are still really wet after all the cycles are done. We call Whirlpool and Lowes and they send technician out again. He thinks the latch is bad and it is not spinning out. He orders a part and installs it and it does not even come on. He then tells me it is the computer board (he thinks) and it will cost about $300 to fix. Ugh. I cannot afford to throw money at a washing machine. Unfortunately, I will not use Lowes or Whirlpool for appliances again. May 1, 2013
