Rated 5 out of 5 by gardner49 I love this washer!
I wasn't sold on the idea of a high efficiency washer since ones I used at other people's houses did not seem to clean well, but this one does! I was even able to take my family's muddy clothes (sneakers and all) and they came out like brand new. In fact my old sneakers were so clean I couldn't tell them from my new ones. All of the features are wonderful, but I especially like the option to have more water added for dirtier heavy loads. The two things I dislike are that I can't open the washer to throw in a dropped sock without pausing it, and the noise it makes when running (the laundry room is right near my office and I can hear it when I work).

Rated 5 out of 5 by LittleDude It is quieter and smoother running than my old direct drive Whirlpool washer.
I'm disappionted with the soak cycle. It doesn't seem to aggitate, and it drains out the soapy water rather than letting me use it to wash with. With my old machine I would load my white clothes, soap, and bleach, leave the lid open and start the wash cycle. The next day I would reset the timer to wash and close the lid. I was able to get my whites cleaner with the old machine than with the new machine. I don't understand the strange aggitation with my new machine nor the lid locking before the spin cycle. I repaired appliances for 29 years before I retired. I swore by whirlpool laundry equipment for the last 26 years I worked. When my Whirlpool gas dryer quit heating, I thought about repairing it. I figured out that the washer and dryer were almost 20 years old and decided to just buy new Whirlpool washer and dryer.I didn't even think about looking at another brand. Now I wonder if I couldn't still have bought another brand that would opperate the way my old Whirlpool did. Maybe the laws have changed or something so that the machines can't opperate that way anymore. Thank you.

Order this washer thinking it was not HE detergent type with agiator. That was what we were used to .Afterwards found it was HE type. Then we tried it having read the manual. It was every quiet and it cleaned great following directions carefull. Had read about the locking lid but found as stated in manual ;push button one time unlocks the lid in less than 30 secods or when spin has stopped. Holding for three seconds cancels the cycle ;so make sure you understand that if part.Overall we are very satisfied with the washing results. We also bought a mtaching dryer which we love ;very quiet and the wrinkle cycle is nice so you don't have to rush to unload. Now if it just last half as long as our old maytag washer and dryer that was 23 years old. But since price is about the same it doesn't really need to.Make sure to read the manual as HE cleans on very different way as manual explains.

We like our new washer from Whirlpool. It has enough different cycles and water temps to do a good job of cleaning. The auto water level takes some getting used to. It takes a long time to start the wash cycle as the machine determines how much water to use. The machine cycles partial turns of the agitator to settle the contents and the noise takes some time to get used to. I am concerned this process of constant on-off will wear the motor out too soon. Time will tell. The other minor inconvenience is that once the lid locks you have to hold down the button to unlock the lid and then restart. That's a bit of an inconvenience if you need to throw a few more items in after the cycle starts. We are used to the new procedures now but I remain concerned about the possible wear and tear due to the load level sensing process. We do recommend this washer to others at this point.

I have had this washer for less than 3 years. It has been worked on several times. The belt will not stay on. The repairman actually glued a bolt on because he said they always come back off. We went to buy a new belt and the parts person said he was very familiar with the product due to owners having to buy parts daily. Not only does it break down repeatedly but the clothes do not come clean! This may be my last Whirlpool purchase!

I love my Whirlpool washer so much, I bought my daughter one when her old washer broke down. We both love them.

I had a Cabrio before this and for the money this works just as well and the dryer works better than the Cabrio dryer. We don't have any issues with the heating senor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lisa123 Great overall performance
Trust me, this was not my first choice. Having had front loaders for years, I was not thrilled that the laundry closet in my new town home would not accommodate the new " bulging front" front loaders. I searched for a long time, even ordered another " agitator less" model. I rethought that decision and finally settled on the whirlpool machine. Cost features and some online reviews impacted that decision. The machine does a great job washing, is quiet and has enough features for my washing needs.

At first, I was wary of the new washer because you put the soap in first, then the clothes, and then once the lid shuts, it's locked before any water starts. Then, this weird sound starts and stops as it's sensing the load. I finally got to the point where I just do what it says, then go upstairs instead of waiting to see if the water fills up or not. It works every time, and the clothes seem much cleaner than before. We definitely use less water and that's a plus!

The washing machine matched the dryer perfectly. It took a while to get use to start up sensors however, we got used to the operation. The clothes come out clean and are not wrinkled.

My wife and I chose this washer when our old one quit. I thought the days of economical no frills machines were over. When compared to other brands available, this machine was the obvious choice. It wasn't until we had it installed that we realized it's also packed with features found in more expensive machines! I like the way the machine controls are laid out and how sturdy they feel. Overall we really like the washer and would recommend it to those looking for a medium capacity, economical model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Louise26 Great product with great energy savings features.
The washer is a great machine and very quiet. It is designed very well. It takes the guess work out doing laundry. Making selections for water levels, hot, warm or cold is very easy. No big decision on how much water to use. All you need to know is the color of your clothing and the guess work is gone. This saves on energy. It is a great savings also when the clothes are ready for the dryer. It spends the clothes so well that the drying time is almost cut in half. You just can't beat this performance.
It has a great safety feature also, it locks the lid once all the selections are made.

Very easy to use...slight adjustment from traditional, but overall pretty simple. I did not give the sound level and innovation excellent reviews only because there is an adjustment to the type of noise it makes compared to a traditional, but I don't believe it's louder. It just has a different tone and rhythym. As for innovation, HE washers have been around a bit and this one is a mid-level model...normal functions and performance capabilities without all the extra bells and whistles, which are unnecessary for me. I'm perfectly happy. How well my clothes hold up and how white my whites are over time will be the final test.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Zoey04 For a washer without lots of bells and whistles, it is a solid performer that is also energy efficient.
This is a basic top loader that measures the water levels required for a thorough washing. Because of the automatic measuring, you cannot add anything to the laundry load once the door has locked. Other than that feature, which takes some getting used to, the machine is quiet, washes well, and does a great job with ridding the load of excess water. This means a shorter time in the dryer! It's a fine product.

I love my new washer. I was so happy to find such a quality washer within my budget. I just purchased a home and really wasn't expecting to have to replace the appliances so soon. I had a very limited budget and was overwhelmed with all the choices on the market. But luckily I was guided to Whirlpool and I am very happy with my choice. I love that it selects the water level for you so there is no guessing. It's also an energy saver, loads are done quickly. The features are great, the washer works well and I didn't spend a fortune.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Trixie48 Washes clothes beautifully.
After 27 yrs. with our old model, getting used to a new machine is a little more difficult than expected, thus the reason for no "Excellent" ratings. I can say, so far, I'm pleased with all but two features. 1. I would like to be able to determine what water level I want. 2. I don't like the fact that the lid locks. I would like to be able to start the water flowing in the tub as I'm adding clothes but, because I cannot do this, I have not used Clorox 2 when washing because I don't want the clothes soaking in it waiting for the machine to adjust and fill. :-(

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lewis33 This product takes a long time to wash clothes
I have always purchased whirlpool products. This washing machine takes a long time to wash clothes. One load takes about an hour. You cannot lift the lid once the wash has begun because the lid locks. You are able to unlock it. I don't need my washer to lock me out. I am also unable to soak clothes. I did not know that the machine was an HE machine. The one thing that I do like is that the washer is able to hold a good amount of laundry.

I replaced a 21 year old Whirlpool pair that was still working with this new energy efficient Whirlpool pair. Before I purchased I did a lot of checking out the reviews. One person said, yes it is noisy so i leave the room and close the door. When I come back my clothes are clean. I took her advice and am very pleased. The washer does a great job of cleaning and takes all the guess work out of how much water to add. Makes my life easier!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bizbuzz I'm easily disappointed by appliances, but this has made me happy so far.
The hardest thing to get used to is the locking lid. But this is not the problem so many others have made it out to be. The sounds are different than my old traditional top loading washers, but not louder. Clothes are clean and the spin cycle is great. I think my loads need less drying time than with my old washer. We got a great deal on this machine. Very pleased so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by craigminah Very good clothes washing machine
We purchased this washer on sale at Lowe's (about 50% off) so we got a great deal, and the washer does a great job at cleaning clothes. The one and really only problem is that it's noisy. Not mechanically noisy, but it sounds like a sick cow groaning when the washing machine spins to clean the clothes. Reminds me of what happens when you store a washer for a while and the inside rubber gaskets and other parts dry out a bit. Good washing machine but the sounds are annoying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Cakediva Great Product at a good price
I have had this machine for 9 months, So far I am happy with this machine. It does a good job on cleaning my clothes. I love the settings on the machine. One thing I don't like is how noisy it can be and you have to clean it once a month so that odor doesn't linger it smells really bad if you don't clean it. Other than the stinky smell and load noise it's a good machine for the price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Ricky553 Disliked Features
There are a few features that we do not like. Load sensing is a feature disliked the most; we prefer to select the load size. The second most disliked feature is the high efficiency detergent design; a washing machine should not be designed to only use a specific type of detergent. The final feature that is disliked is the lid lock because it takes too long for the lid to unlock when trying to stop the washer due to an unbalanced load or when attempting to stop it for any reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by maineman water saver
Having a machine that KNOWS the water level I needs is saving $$$. I would not know who high top set my water level to be enough for the load I was washing so I would always set it a little higher than I needed. Mostly on level that was as high a level as it could be. Results were using way more water than I needed. Greater water and sewer costs were reduced with this machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ann1717 Great washer
I had read many reviews prior to choosing this one. Glad I did. It washes my husband's greasy jeans and does a great job on a big heavy load. The only down fall is it takes a lot longer to finish a cycle than my old washer. It's also not as quiet as I thought a new washer would be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sherry247 Clean, lean washing machine
We noticed cleaner clothes and a smarter machine washer.. The use of less water and energy helps with keeping the cost of doing laundry down. You will need to read the manual before using, but you will find that the control are well laid out and easy to use. The cost was higher then previous machines that we have owned, but the cost in the long run will less.
