Rated 2 out of 5 by 6151hjggc My old Whirlpool "Gold" model was better
While I am certainly happy to hear that this refrigerator is very energy efficient, I am bothered by a few design aspects, which, compared to my 1998 Gold refrigerator, are inferior:
The first is, there is no light in the freezer section.. a great disappointment.
Secondly, the two freezer door shelves are much too narrow compared to the old one; another disappointment.
The "Gold" model had roll-out shelves in both compartments; this has none.
The plastic bins are much too flimsy on the doors, and the large pull out drawer feels like it is going to completely fall out.
Overall, I'd say this is not an upgraded product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by nanc I am please with the features of this product.
My only issue is there is a drilled hole in the front panel of the fridge to accommodate a right sided handle versus left. The installer covered the hole with a silver sticker. I called my sales person and it was explained to me that is standard to conceal the hoe. . Totally UNACCEPTABLE by me.I searched online, called several parts distributors to find many dead ends. I finally found a plug to cover the hole but can't find any one to assure me it will fit in the hole ....so I own a very functional, attractive appliance with a silver-tone sticker covering a drilled hole on the stainless steel front panel of this refrigerator. That is not acceptable to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by pvaller Good buy for no frills consumer
I love this refrigerator. We had a 1993 Amana high end. I like this one much better. Old one was 19 cu this is 20 and it makes a big difference. We are not interested in all the bells and whistles. Wanted something basic and very energy efficient. This is it. Agree with other reviewer that it needs freezer light and bigger freezer door shelves. Also replace the can shelf with a regular shelf! We put a cardboard in it so we could use it for condiment jars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by murphyjw Was very disappointed in the interior features of this refrigerator
I bought this refrigerator online through whirlpool and am very disappointed in the fit and finish of this refrigerator. The interior shelving and drawers are flimsy at best and loose fitting. There are no options to adjust the various spacing on these shelves The wire shelf in the freeze is very thin and does not bear the weight of a few roasts with out bending in the middle. The design of the meat drawer and the plastic rails that hold it is poor and often falls off so that I have to remove the drawer and shelf to reattach these rails. The installer even had difficulty lining up the doors properly and had to make two trips. I previously had a very similar whirlpool model that lasted for almost 20 years which is why I bought this one. The shelving was solid as was the freezer shelf. While I don't expect 20 years out of this, the interior pieces don't feel like they will last a tenth of that. As for its performance, I find the cooling uneven. It often freezes items like containers of yogurt that are in the back on the bottom shelf. I should have sought out this model in a store to examine it, instead of buying online. If I had, the internal fittings and trim would have swayed me away from buying this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by cbrowne Nice capacity, quiet but some design flaws
The large meat drawer is very difficult to pull in and out if the drawer has any food in it. Easily comes off track. I imagine it will break in a short period of time. The plastic bin for condiments won't hold common sized condiments such as salad dressings and ketchup. These features take away from the overall quality of the unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MaKai Why I didn't want the ice maker
I picked this model for several reasons. It was one of a few Energy Star models that had a $75 rebate from my electric company. It also didn't have an ice maker. I don't use a lot of ice and ice gets pretty nasty if it sits in a freezer for a long time. On the plus side is that there is more room in the freezer without one. I also wanted a top freezer instead of the bottom draw types as they tend to lose a lot of their cold when the drawer opened. The only thing I do not like about this model is the shelve configuration. It would be nice if they had split shelves and more positions, but all in all I still like this refrigerator over all the others I looked at.

Rated 1 out of 5 Absolute piece of junk.
Worst piece of junk I have ever owned. Only one temperature controller for both freezer and fridge. I sent Whirlpool a picture I took of the light from a flashlight shining through the gap in the freezer door seal. All told, 4 inches of seal you can see daylight through. All the cold air goes straight to the vegetable crisper, sucking warm air in through the gaps, keeping the freezer section toasty warm. The freezer won't freeze ice cream, but the veggie drawer will freeze your lettuce brick solid. If you turn the temp up enough to keep things in the bottom from freezing, the freezer won't even freeze ice. Lost a lot of food and expensive medicine figuring that out. Dealer was rude and wouldn't send a technician. Scheduled another technician through Whirlpool web site. He showed up 3 days late and worked a half a day on it, placing several calls to Whirlpool. Nothing he did made any difference. He left me with a roll of aluminum tape, telling me that if it didn't improve in 24 hours to tape over the return air ducts in the middle section. Just for giggles, I tried that. It made the problem even worse, as expected. I would give it back to the dealer, but he wants me to pay for having it picked up. Bottom line; could not be more disgusted with the product or the service.
