Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 126 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Fridge Excellent features, quiet, single thermostat control works as well as any dual control in refrigerators costing twice as much as this product. I checked the temperature consistency with a highly accurate thermometer for two weeks. Once the temp control is set for the surrounding conditions, about two days to stabilize with proper setting ( environmental, amount of food in fridge under most scenarios, etc ) the temperature remains at a constant 0 to -2 degrees F in freezer section and a steady 35 to 36 degrees F in fridge section on all shelves from top to bottom. Good product for the price. I would highly recommend this fridge for folks looking for a good looking basic fridge, who do not require unnecessary bells and whistles. Like the large butter compartment and the soda can shelf. The only addition I would like to have had would have been a light in the freezer compartment. We can live just fine without it. Overall, very satisfied thus far. November 12, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Doesn't get cold I'll soon file a warranty claim. Forty-eight hours after I turned this on with the default 3-snowflake *** setting my frozen foods thawed, ice cream melted, and the refrigerator area was just cool. An infrared thermometer confirmed that the freezer section was right at 32F and the fridge at 42F. After two weeks at 5-snowflakes *****, the half-filled freezer is still only 6F (recommended temperature is 0F) and the half-filled refrigerator at 40.1F (recommended is 37F). Something moans worse than the 34-year-old evaporator fan in the Whirlpool refrigerator this one replaced and the machine clicks and clacks disconcertingly. Also - the plastic drawers have a distinctly cheap feel. The can rack is useless for me. It's significantly deeper than my old refrigerator, and that one wasn't exactly shallow. I hoped this would be a simple replacement for my old, reliable Whirlpool - but it isn't. April 11, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by I am not happy with this refrigerator This is the worst refrigerator I have ever owned, and that covers over 60 years. The drawers are not easy to use, but the worst area is the freezer. Some of the items I moved into this when I bought it are okay, but most of them are as hard as bricks, something I have never experienced before. I had always been able to extract portions of vegetables, for instance, which I have to do frequently since I live alone; now there are times when I have to literally whack the package with a mallet to loosen the ingredients enough to extract the amount I need. The refrigerator seems cheaply constructed and shortly after it was installed water leaked onto the floor and I had to call the repair people to send someone to fix the problem. The repairman also changed the freezer temperature when I told him what was happening to the frozen food. It worked on a couple of things but I'm still having trouble. No, I would definitely not recommend this model and I would love to be able to trade this in on something that works properly. October 25, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by Do no buy! Irreparable after 2 years. Do not purchase this fridge! We have had this fridge for only 2 years and it already needs to be replaced with a brand new one. I started to notice the items in the freezer becoming unthawed and that the air coming out was only cool, not frozen. Soon after the refrigerator items began getting warmer and warmer and all the food in the fridge spoiled. We called a mechanic to come look at the problem and he said the evaporator system was leaking and it is a $700-$800 fix! That is almost as much as the fridge itself costs! This is NOT worth fixing and I am very disappointed. And because there is only a 1 year warranty, there is "nothing Whirlpool can do about it." In my opinion, it is UNACCEPTABLE for a fridge to only last 2 years! This is a big expense and major appliance so there is no way it should need to be replaced after 2 years. I will have a very hard time every purchasing a Whirlpool appliance after this. Stay away from this fridge. August 30, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 Forget the Frills Water through the door? Forget it. Don't want useless energy waste and smaller capacity. Color matching? In a couple of years I'll be rebuilding the entire kitchen, and at that time this one becomes the basement spare. These are major pluses in my view. Problems: the door for the butter compartment is slightly too small for my big hands. The racks inside the freezer door are too narrow for doubling up on the boxed vegies, or most other things. The compartment for the cheeses is on the wrong side, making beverage accessibility somewhat awkward. But it is quiet, and that is a big plus for me. April 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Looks More Expensive Than It is. Had to buy a refrigerator in a hurry and needed to be budget conscious. After shopping several stores we came across this model. For just a slight amount more than the entry level fridge in this capacity we selected this Whirlpool. The surface design and finish is very sleek. The doors have a slight curvature to them that gives it the look of a more expensive model. The interior shelves are spacious and nicely arranged and the operation is very quite. I was about to plunk down a few hundred more for another brand not nearly as eye catching. I couldn't be happier. Thanks Whirlpool for making design affordable! April 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Second refrig/freezer for family use in garage Purchased this unit as a second refrig/freezer for the garage. So far it has been great. Used for beverages, i.e. waters, sport drinks, milk, sodas and extra frozen items, i.e. frozen dinners, ice cream, & some meats. Everything works great, except the ice cream does not freeze as hard as I feel it should. Would recommend. It's attractive also nice finish on outside. Plenty of storage space and compartments in the refrig area for my family. April 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by There is no light in the freezer section Put a light in the freezer. And don't forget to include an ice maker. April 14, 2014
