Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I purchased this microwave to replace my previous Whirlpool Gold which was over 10 years old and would have needed an expensive repair with the probability that other components would soon need to be replaced as well. After considerable research this was the model I chose. First problem: Apparently a couple years ago all manufactures decided to increase the length of the over the range microwaves by an inch or so which meant that the existing space above my range (the granite back splash) would need to be modified. Eventually the install was completed. Alas the first time I opened the door to the microwave I see a gray interior which I expected, however I was surprised to see a white plastic panel on the right side approx. 3" x 6". I never read anything about that in other reviews. Now why would a company have a rather dark gray interior and then put a large piece of white plastic, of which I was told behind it was the magnetron tube? It seems to me that a gray plastic would have been more aesthetically pleasing and create a more uniform look while achieving the same result... or if for some reason white was necessary then avoid the gray interior completely. Perhaps the black unit wasn't the right choice for me although it did match my cooktop well and looks nice on the outside. Next I noticed four small scrapes or gouges above that cavity. Whirlpool was quick to arrange an appointment for someone to look at it. The service man told me it was probably due to the welds.of the interior and there's no guarantee that a replacement wouldn't be the same. Of course, I would need to have the current unit removed and the new unit installed at my own expense...unacceptable to me since it is a Whirlpool defect in workmanship in my opinion. This model has only one underneath filter and one light instead of two filters and lights which my previous Gold unit had, thus only covering half the area which I feel is inadequate. The sensor cooking works very well though and I do like that feature. The fan is very noisy even on low; much more so than my previous Whirlpool Gold microwave. The keypad is difficult to see/read since it is not lighted. Perhaps this is only on the black model. I feel like this unit takes the maximum rather than the minimum time recommended on frozen food packages, although the wattage was comparable. Again, more than my previous model needed. The door didn't quite line up exactly but the repairman said the seal was good so I shouldn't be concerned.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from LOUD FAN The Fan comes on whenever you use the microwave....IT IS LOUD.... Display keeps asking for input when you close door even after you have put in the time and power level. Handle gets very hot from stove top under it, even if you use fan. SORRY I BOUGHT THIS...... Does look nice in stainless steel though.....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WELL MADE WITH A FEW DRAWBACKS THIS MICROWAVE DOES NOT HAVE THE FAST MINUTE BUTTONS AND IF YOU WANT TO USE THE MICROWAVE RIGHT AFTER YOU HAVE TAKEN SOMETHING OUT YOU HAVE TO CANCEL THE PREVIOUS SETTING BEFORE IT WILL LET YOU START A NEW ONE. YOU CANNOT ADJUST THE LOUDNESS OF THE BEEP AFTER THE COOKING CYCLE EITHER. THESE ISSUES ARE ANNOYING AND THEY DO NOT MAKE USING IT QUICK AND EASY. BESIDES THAT I HAVE NOT ANY OTHER ISSUES WITH THE MICROWAVE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This microwave cooks evenly One of the main complaints about microwaves is the uneven cooking. This one however cooks evenly and quickly. The easy clean interior took some getting used to but now I love it. The buttons have some very useful choices. This is my second Whirlpool Gold and though the model number is the same as my 11 year old one that died. Many new features and accuwave cooking are a definite plus. The only negative thing I have about this product is the noise . The fan is very noisy but I am getting used to it. I would give it an excellent rating if it weren't for the noise. And I do recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wanted to replace with the same model! When looking to replace our "worn out" microwave, we insisted on replacing it with the same model . . . or something as close as possible. Why? Because we had enjoyed excellent use and function from this Whirlpool model. No need to switch, to do comparison shopping! And the sales and service folk were very helpful. We made the deal on the phone, went to the store to pick it up, and installed it ourselves. Thanks, Whirlpool!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wanted this unit for the Accuwave cooking and Clean Release interior-better than expected I wanted the Accuwave coking system(effective wattage change)and CleanRelease interior-Superior cooking and easy to keep clean-I have not used all the cycles but the Sensor cycles, the soften / melt cycle get a lot of use-The defrost cycle is far,far superior to my old microwave-food does not get partially cooked-the only negative that I see is the brightness of the lights underneath-could be a little brighter-I would recommend this unit to anyone

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Space Age Technology What a fantastic microwave! The looks and functionality are top of the line. The technology is space age. For example a sensor automatically starts the microwave exhaust fan when it senses heat from the stove-top. The fan speed adjusts to the amount of heat being generated from the stove-top. It will then lower the fan speed and turn off the fan once the heat source has stopped. This is very helpful especially if one forgets to start the exhaust fan. This is new technology that makes sense and is very useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CleanRelease, why did it take so long to invent you? I'm kind of surprised that they only list "Cleanability" as a Con and not also as a Pro, like "Sound Level" is. This is easily one of the best features this microwave has to offer! I love the auto-reheat settings, mind you, but in a house full of children (we have 7) the "CleanRelease" technology makes cleanup so easy that nobody dreads the assignment to clean up the microwave any more! Kudos to the inventor of CleanRelease! You are one of my heroes, and have made for clean microwaves everywhere!
