Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by poor quality In the first year we had the repair people over 8 times. I finally got them to replace the unit but the problems began again in a week or 2. It melted the plastic drive piece for the turntable, had the exhaust fan replaced, the lights went out 2 times,Door handle cracked, display took fits and stopped and started working randomly. Got it replaced again but this time we upgraded to the Kitchen Aid which was a little more expensive but we were hoping for better quality. No such luck, same piece of pretty junk. We have a Great Cabrio washer and a very nice Whirlpool Gold refrigerator but we have never been so dissatisfied in a appliance . After about 17 repairs between the 2 units, I gave up.The lights are out, plastic trim is broken and display has fits Its almost 6 yrs old and we will use it till it dies. I will never purchase a newly designed product from Whirlpool without extensive research again, They missed the mark on this ! November 11, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not recommended Purchased this microwave in 2006 and at first I loved it, then about a year later the glass started to fog up and the plastic strips around the door cracked. I had an extended warranty on the product and the door was replaced. A couple years later it happened again and they ended up replacing the whole microwave. Well, it has happened again and the extended warranty has expired so I am stuck with a microwave that has cracks in the plastic and fogged glass. For the price I paid for this microwave, I should not have the same problem over and over again. I do not recommend this product July 13, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love hate relationship with this product Have had this unit for 4 years and it has worked well. Mostly use to boil water and make popcorn and also for microwave meals. The turntable handles a large rectangular lasagna tray, amazing. Only recently used the grill feature, worked well. The convection oven is very noisy and slow to heat and the preheat indicator never goes off, always says preheating. Don't recommend for allot of convection use. Recently the microwave feature failed to heat a cup of water, would only make it luke warm, and I decided to repair it myself as parts and labor would exceed the value of the unit. I did extensive troubleshooting research online and decided my best course of action was to replace the magnetron and the inverter (transformer) as these components were most frequently cited as failing. This was to no avail. Tested all the circuitry and had power to the inverter so it wasn't a switch or thermal fuse. Finally noticed one of the ferite "bullets" in the wave guide tunnel was slightly loose. Took it out and noticed it was corroded and eaten away. Ordered a new set of (3) ferite bullets and now the microwave is working great. The wave guide tunnel is the metal tunnel that directs the wave energy from the magnetron into the oven cavity and the bullets, from what I understand, tune the waves to concentrate them better into the oven cavity. It seems like many service techs miss this as a possible cause of failure. Also heard if the wave guide (not the wave guide cover) gets too damaged the oven is unrepairable. Hope this helps someone having problems with one of these units. March 28, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Problems with this product I purchased this item a couple years ago thinking that it was a superior product. However, problems started right away. This product does not function very well when installed over an oven, which is how it was designed to be used. Seems that steam or heat from the oven can enter the electronics within the microwave and cause problems. Now the microwave will run through programs on its own and continue "beeping" at all hours of the day and night. It sometimes locks up and will not respond to touch controls. I am concerned that the maker will not stand behind their products integrity. November 8, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by The product is poorly bulit for the money I have had the same problems as other reviewers. The unit starts beeping on it's own at all hours. The first unit was still under warranty so Whirlpool sent out a repair person 6 times without any success. Each time they tried to repair the unit another problem occured. We are now on our second unit and the light has stopped working. Whirlpool has sent a reair person out twice now without any success. At this point the repair person has called Whirlpool and they have no idea how to fix it. This unit design is very poor. December 20, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by This product is defective We have had the same problems as another reviewer. This microwave is above the stove and will not tolerate any cooking on the stove at all. It starts going through all types of cycles randomly, beeps in the middle of the night, and locks up so you cannot do anything with it. We have had this microwave replaced 3 times in the last year. Please correct the problem. December 5, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poorly built PLASTIC componets This product is very poorly built. The bottom of the door of the unit is plastic and IF you cook at all it will crack from the heat from the stove below the unit. The steam or heat will get in through the cracked plastic and go in between the glass front and get into the electrical panel. The electrical panel will get condensation and not work and you will have to replace the electrical panel or buy a whole new unit. I do have a direct vent to the outside and use the fan on the unit. Other companies use steel on the bottom and do not have this issue. The plastic on the bottom of the door will crack and you will have an issue eventually. April 23, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor quality Not worth over $1000. Door fogged up right after installation. After 2 years the heating elements for the microwave and convection oven just quit working. January 25, 2013
