This product is prone to un-repairable refrigerant leaks. We purchased this unit when our house was new 6 years ago, we are now on our 2nd unit. The first one leaked all the refrigerant and would not cool, my parents have had the same problem. Their 2nd unit in 5 years was just deemed non-repairable, they both leaked refirgerant and would no longer cool. That's a total of (3) of these units in a span of 6 years that have been complete failures. I can only hope that the one I re-purchased that is about 6 months old will last longer than the 2 year average. A $1400.00 appliance should last longer than 2 years. January 29, 2013
Great while it lasted After 6 years it finally started giving us problems, the motor still runs but the compressor is very hot and the refrigerator is room temp. February 6, 2013
Good quality,very nice features,disappointed with noise level. Bought freezer to match and sound level a whole lot quieter. Needed to replace older sidekick with similar refridgerator. Space was limited due to overhead cabinets .These were the only ones that would fit this space.Would have had to remodel to have other brands fit. April 1, 2013
Great product with TONS of capacity My parents have owned this unit for over a year with the matching freezer. The resulting 60" wide side-by-side configuration with fantastic capacity is wonderful. When I went in to purchase my own set this year, my neighborhood salesman told me that he owns a set as well and has loved it for the last 4 years. Good job Whirlpool on the sidekicks line.
